With this, cryptography, specifically the encryption and decryption process, has become an essential component of most data security strategies.

In this paper, the encryption and decryption capability of the Affine cipher was investigated.

The combination of Blum Blum Shub algorithm along with Affine cipher is proposed.

In the proposed method, identical plaintext characters are not likely to be substituted with a similar sequence or pattern identical to the original plaintext.

Simulation results revealed that the modified Affine cipher produces ciphertext that is more secure as it shows no trace of any pattern that is the same from the plain text.
